HelpMeSee - MSICS (manual small incision cataract surgery) Simulator

HelpMeSee is a global campaign to cure cataract blindness for the 22 million people currently suffering from this treatable disease. HelpMeSee’s unique model combines best-in-class surgical partners, convergence and effective use of technology, and best practices to eliminate blindness caused by cataracts globally over the next 20 years. This exceptional project was initiated by Al and Jim Ueltschi, and the Ueltschi Family Foundation, and supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

SenseGraphics is proud to be an essential part of the development team that creates a state-of-the-art surgical simulator that will enable the eye surgeons to perform thousands of surgeries virtually – before they ever operate on a single patient. Moog as HelpMeSee’s main technology partner, with their project sub-partners SenseGraphics and InSimo, is revolutionizing surgical simulation in ophthalmology.

Intuitive Surgical – Da Vinci®

Intuitive Surgical, the global leader in robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery, has currently released their latest system, the da Vinci Xi®. It is accompanied by the da Vinci Skills Simulator which also contains our technology. As being attached to the da Vinci Xi®, the Skills Simulator allows surgeons to train on the real console in a virtual and safe environment.

Moog Simodont® Dental Trainer

Moog is a worldwide designer, manufacturer and integrator of precision motion control products and system. The Simodont® Dental Trainer is a high quality, high fidelity simulator allowing for future dentists to be trained in operative dental procedures in a realistic dedicated virtual environment while receiving haptics, visual and audio sensory information.

SenseGraphics has been part of the development team of the Moog Simodont® Dental Trainer, providing both drilling and 3D visual functionality to the simulator.

MedaPhor ScanTrainer

MedaPhor is a global provider of advanced ultrasound education and training for medical professionals. MedaPhor’s ScanTrainer simulator teaches doctors and sonographers the complex, hard-to-learn ultrasound scanning skills, without the need for patients and with minimal expert supervision. ScanTrainer replicates an expert guiding your learning by combining ‘real-feel’ virtual reality simulation, with real patient scans, real-time expert guidance and feedback and curriculum-based interactive learning and assessment.

ScanTrainer was brought to the market in 2010, built based on SenseGraphics’ technology and with expertise from the SenseGraphics software development team. There are now over 100 ScanTrainer simulators installed worldwide.

UWO – Western University

The Robarts Research Institute and SenseGraphics

Two simulation stations with SenseGraphics’ technology are currently in place at the Robarts Research Institute.

With cardiac surgeons and echocardiographers assisting in project development of a Trans-esophageal echocardiogram (TEE) simulation. In collaboration with NeoChord Inc., this ultrasound simulator will be used to mimic an off-pump, beating heart mitral valve repair procedure.

RASimAs

The RASimAs project (Regional Anaesthesia Simulator and Assistant) is a European research project funded by the European Union’s 7th Framework Program. It aims at providing a virtual reality simulator and assistant to doctors performing regional anaesthesia by developing the patient-specific Virtual Physiological Human models.

14 partners from 11 European countries including hospitals, universities and companies are unifying their efforts to develop a medical tool helping medical doctors while performing regional anaesthesia. SenseGraphics is part of the RASimAs team.

Medability

Medability offers simulation solutions for marketing and medical education in the field of image-guided percutaneous and minimally-invasive procedures. The introduced minimally-invasive spine surgery simulator is using the SenseGraphics’ technology.
